As you’ve probably heard about some foods which boost your sex drive, there are some you should be shunning before getting romantic.
1.Cow / Goat / sheep light soup
Cow / Goat / sheep light soup with fufu
Among many Ghanaians, fufu with light soup is a common food dish — with the light soup either prepared with a goat, sheep or cow.
A tasty ‘sauced’ light soup with Fufu may taste perfect when going down your throat, but you might want to reconsider your choice of meat and the time you eat it.
The two combinations, red meat, and fufu which is full of starch/carbohydrate is heavy and can take a long time to digest.
It will also leave you feeling inactive, lethargic, tired and sleepy, which will surely affect your performance in bed.
2. Gari and beans (Red Red or Gorb3)
Undoubtedly, beans are a good source of fiber and proteins for our body.
However, beans contain a sugar that isn’t digestible and causes bloating and gas. So once they hit your stomach you’re sure to puff up.
We can all also agree that a gassy and bloated belly is not ideal for sex.
For most people ‘chocolate’ is an aphrodisiac but for some females, I hear chocolate makes them tired and it temporarily lowers their sexual drive and libido.
Cocoa contains methylxanthines which make the skin sensitive to every touch, however, it can inadvertently make us sluggish.
4. Chicken and chips
Chips also known as french fries. Fried food, in general, can have some undesirable s*xual side-effects.
And some of the negative effects include lowering your testosterone levels and decreasing blood circulation.
They also contain a lot of salt, which can make it difficult for men with high blood pressure to keep up a strong erection.
Basically — skip the fries before heading to the bedroom.
While it’s true that energy drinks will give you a big spike in energy shortly after consuming them, that energy doesn’t last long and will not help improve your sexual stamina.
In fact, these drinks often have a high caffeine and sugar content that quickly burns off in your system, leaving you with an even lower energy level than you had before drinking it.
The added sugar also has the drawback of lowering testosterone production in guys.
6.Mint Gum/ Chewing Gum
Whether you’re on a hot date or planning a cozy night in with your other half, you want to make sure your breath smells fresh.
Mint gum is great for kissing, but studies show it can put a damper on your desire and energy for a quick romp. And chewing peppermint gum is an added buzzkill because you tend to swallow air, which leads to more gas, says Dr. Kominiarek.
Luckily, you can eat your dinner or dessert (or both, on good dates) and enjoy ‘the thing’ too. Just avoid the foods that can trigger digestive issues, a real problem if you have a sensitive stomach or suffer from date-related anxieties, which can amplify digestive issues.
