The Minority Spokesperson on Communication and Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency, A.B.A. Fuseini has attributed the cause of persistent Abudu and Andani clash to the occupancy of Gbewaa Palace by Boling-Lana and his family.
He said, the Gbewaa palace established under the John Mahama’s administration was meant for some particular overlords to ensure that they have habitable place adequately prepared for the funeral of Yaa-Na.
Speaking on Pan African Television’s Good Morning Africa, the Sagnarigu Law Maker indicated that “the customary house is still occupied by the Regent of the Abudus, Boling-Lana even after the funeral of his father Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.”
This, according to him, did go down well with some of the royal family members and contributed to the wreck of the funeral which resulted in yesterday’s clash.
He expressed disappointment in the Abudu youth who pelted stones at the Andani chief while on his way to the funeral at Yendi.
Honourable Fuseini appealed to the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who has played an influential role towards the “Dagbon Roadmap to Peace” to intervene and help restore calm at Yendi.
He said this will avert political interference which has been a hindrance to peaceful settlement of issues between the Abudus and Andanis.
Violent broke out Thursday January 10, 2019 in Yendi in the Northern region between the Abudus and the Andanis, a day after the latter raised concerns about what was described as infractions by the former on the road map to peace in Dagbon.
According to an eyewitness, the violence was allegedly triggered by some Abudu youth who pelted the Andanis arriving at the funeral of the late Yaa Na Andani in Yendi.
One person has been reported dead and five others injured with two houses burnt.
