Elikem puts acting on hold for first love, fashion

When Elikem Kumordzie came into the spotlight after his stint in Big Brother Africa, he was known as a fashion designer but soon gained fame as an actor of repute.
After starring in movies like Cheaters, The Hunters among others, Elikem has revealed to Showbiz that he is putting acting on hold to pursue his first love, fashion.
Speaking from Dubai, where he is working on some deals, Elikem said he is not entirely out of acting but wants to concentrate more on fashion.
“I discovered my passion for fashion was more intense and my two “babies,” acting and fashion, clashed a lot so I put aside acting for fashion.
“I want to build up the brand on a more solid note before I go back into acting fully. I choose and select my scripts though so I’m not entirely out,” he said.
Elaborating more on what he is doing in Dubai, Elikem said, “I have made contact with people at great length. I met with different fashion inclined people and people in different fields of work. I have been offered a spot on International Dubai Fashion Week (IDfw).
“I am in talks for another potential gig where I get to exhibit for a Polo charity game. I met with two other fashion designers; one is a princess from Sharjah, Her Royal Highness Sheika Faisal Al Qassemi of Hendfq (her fashion label).”
Away from fashion and his dealings in Dubai, Showbiz asked Elikem his views on the movie industry and he said “still room for improvement, the industry went downhill bit it’s getting more creative.”
He also mentioned that he hasn’t done a Kumawood production yet but he would love to tap into it.
After his public break up with fellow Big Brother housemate, Pokello Nare, with whom he has a son, Elikem has found love again in another Zimbabwean, who he identified as Edith Chibhamu, a businesswoman and philanthropist.
Clearly intending to do things differently from his previous relationship, Elikem answered no when asked if it was advisable to put one’s relationship out there.
“No, relationships should be kept between family and close friends until the day of marriage, then the world can know. The world and social media seem to want to depict how people should behave in their relationship,” he stated.
For someone who has been in a celebrity marriage, Elikem believes that it is difficult because people expect a fairy tale which makes it unbearably hard.
