After the first attempt at launch in spring, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is ready to try again to make a good first impression. It was restarted as promised and is available in Korea from today. But a surprising addition is that Fold will be 5G-ready “in the selected market”.
An announcement for the US revealed that the device could be expected in the next few weeks, but nothing about 5G. However, it is important to note the addition of the new Galaxy Fold Premier Service that launches with mobile phones.
The specs list shows that it is still running on Android 9 Pie instead of the just released Android 10 OS, including Google adjustments specifically for convertible devices. As revealed in July, the flexible phone has been redesigned to ease the issues identified in the review unit and come before the original launch date. There is a fine-tuned protective layer across the largest screen, reworked hinges to keep debris away, and an additional metal layer to reinforce everything.
